Adoptee Narrative Talk: Asian Beauty Standards

Welcome to another Adoptee Narrative Talk! FCC Capital Area is hosting a talk about Adoptees and Relationships. Our discussion will be on Thursday, January 20th from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.. EST, and we'll be talking about Asian beauty standards. Hope you’ll be able to join us! 

• This event is open to Asian adoptees only, with a suggested age of 16+.

• Registration will close 24 hours in advance. FCC will email you a Zoom link upon registration and at least one reminder email.

• For this event, we will first ask the below questions and give participants time to journal their answers, thoughts, and questions for the group. We will use the second half of the event to share our answers in a full group discussion. 

Questions: 

1. Where do your beauty standards come from when your family doesn’t look like you? 

2. How does this affect the way that you interact with others? Those who look like your family? Those who don’t look like your family?

3. How do we see ourselves? Do we see ourselves aligning more withthe standards of our adoptive families or more towards Asian beauty standards?

4. Did your family or parents inform your view on beauty standards?
