Adoptee Narrative Talk: Adoptees and Relationships

Welcome to another Adoptee Narrative Talk! FCC Capital Area is hosting a talk about Adoptees and Relationships. Our discussion will be on Tuesday, February 16th from 7:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. EST, and we'll be talking about romantic, platonic, familial and other relationships as adoptees! Hope you’ll be able to join us!

  • This event is open to adoptees only, with a suggested age of 16+.
  • Registration will close 24 hours in advance. FCC will email you a Zoom link upon registration and at least one reminder email.

We’ll chat in a full-group discussion and then head into breakout rooms. Here are the questions we’ll be discussing!

Full Group Questions:

  • How do you approach talking about your adoption in relationships (friendships, romantic, etc.)?
  • How would you want your friends/ partner to support your identity as an adoptee within your relationship/ friendship?

Breakout Room Questions:

  • Do you feel like being a TRA adoptee has affected your relationships?
  • What were the demographics like around where you grew up? What are they like now? Did that affect who you dated?
  • Have you ever dated another adoptee? If not, would you want to?
  • Do you know your attachment style?
  • Have you noticed how your attachment style has affected your own relationships/ friendships?
  • How are the family dynamics with your spouse’s/partner’s family?
  • Are you interested in adopting children? Do you think being an adoptee affects your answer to the former?

If you have any questions about this event, please e-mail emmarobertsvaurio@fccny.org.

We look forward to seeing you there!
