Adoptee Forum | Exploring Names and Identity
The session seeks to help adoptees reflect and gain further insight into personal experiences navigating adoptive names and birth names, how receiving an Anglicized name may affect identity and experiences over the course of one’s life, and how reclaiming birth names may be influential to one’s development. In addition, findings will be discussed from three separate qualitative research studies focused on names and identity for transracial Chinese American adoptees, transracial Korean American adoptees, and transracial Korean adoptees placed internationally.
